New York (ST): Russian Deputy Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky announced that the United Nations promised to facilitate the export of Russian grain, and Moscow, for its part, would evaluate these efforts before extending the grain deal in a few days.
TASS news agency quoted Polyansky as saying in a commentary to the newspaper “Izvestia” published today: “The United Nations promises us that restrictions will be lifted, and when the agreement is extended, we will assess the process of implementing the Russian part of it and its effectiveness,” noting that the United Nations has until the 18th of this month to fulfill its obligations, which is the expiry date of the present agreement.
The United Nations had announced earlier that consultations on extending the Ukrainian grain export deal, which was reached in Istanbul last June, are still continuing.
