Syrian cinema won three awards at the 33rd Carthage Film Festival, which concluded yesterday in the Tunisian capital.
The feature film (The Road), directed by Abdel Latif Abdel Hamid, written in partnership with Adel Mahmoud and produced by the General Film Organization, won the Audience Award.
In the short documentary competition, the film (The People Who Follow above), directed by Firas Mohamed, won the Golden Award.
Meanwhile, Mowaffaq Al-Ahmad won the Best Actor Award for his role in the feature film (The Road).
The Carthage Film Festival’s activities began on the twenty-ninth of last month and witnessed a remarkable presence of Syrian artists, during which the able artist Mona Wassef and the artist Abdel Moneim Amayri were honored.
The official competition at the festival was devoted to the latest Arab and African film productions, which included 44 Arab and African films, including 12 films in the Feature Film Competition, in addition to 12 films in the Long Documentary Film Competition.
As for the Short Narrative Film Competition, 12 films participated, and in the Film Competition Documentary shorts compete with only 8 films.
