Syria wins first prize in children’s literature within the Palestine International Prize for Literature
On November 6th, Syria won the first prize in children’s literature for a story entitled “The Bells of Return” by writer Adriana Ibrahim, as part of the first edition of the Palestine International Prize for Literature, which concluded its activities in Beirut.
The number of winners in the award was 12 winners in four literary genres: the story, the novel, children’s literature, the Palestinian memoirs and biography, and the prizes were distributed to 8 countries, including Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran.
Palestinian researcher, Munir Shafiq, was honored in recognition of his role in documenting the resistance.
The ceremony of announcing the results was attended by writers from Syria, led by the head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, who participated in judging the works submitted for the award, in addition to director Basil Al-Khatib, screenwriter and writer Hassan M. Youssef, the academic Dr. Ahmed Ali Muhammad, Dr. Abdullah Al-Shaher, the storyteller Faiza Al-Daoud, the poet Jihad Al-Ahmadiya and the poet Dr. Nizar Bani Al-Marjah.
Al-Hourani said that this award seeks to continue to devote attention to the Palestinian cause and its literature, with the aim of liberating it and immortalizing what is going on at important literary levels in all literary genres.
