The Oath of Cyriac given award by Cardiff International Film Festival

DAMASCUS, Nov.3, (ST)-Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums announced on Thursday that “The Oath of Cyriac movie” was awarded an honorable mention by the Jury at the 8th session of the Cardiff International Film Festival (United Kingdom) in Best Documentary Category.

The film, directed by Olivier Bourgeois and co-produced by Syrian Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums and the Syria Trust for Development, is a feature docudrama based on a breathtaking true story about the bravery and dedication of archaeologists.

It narrates the story of protecting the Museum of Aleppo and its holdings in 2015, using archival footage of the attacks on the museum during the war, testimonies about the difficult moments and sacrifices made by the true heroes of the story, and the innovative solutions they found to fulfill that quest.

The film won more than 17 awards at numerous international festivals for the idea and message it presented and its importance in building the future and peace, while saluting its true heroes who faced a terrible ordeal in 2015. These heroes strove to save the artifacts, which number up to 24,000 pieces – to save them from an unknown fate, and they were able, with their dedication, to transport all these pieces to a safe place.
