Residents of Al-Hilaliya neighborhood in Qamishli demonstrate against the seizure of their homes by the SDF militia

The people of Al-Hilaliya neighborhood in Qamishli city protested against the practices of the “SDF militia” supported by the American occupation forces against them, and its forcible seizure of a number of residential apartments owned by citizens on the outskirts of the neighborhood and the expulsion of its residents.

The people of Al-Hilaliya neighborhood called on international and relief organizations to intervene to stop the militia’s crimes and its continuous violations, its theft of the country’s wealth, starvation of the people, and sabotage of their property, which constitutes a crime against the people of the province.

One of those affected by SDF violations and practices, said that 60 apartments in Al-Hilaliya neighborhood were forcibly seized by the SDF militia, most of them under construction, and owned by families of workers and employees working in the state’s public sector, calling for the militia to vacate the buildings and return them to their true owners.

Another victim said: “The people are helpless, and these apartments are the result of many years of hard work. It is quite unjust for anybody to rob them and take them by force.”

For her part, a resident whose apartment was seized by the SDF militia, pointed out that what the militia is currently doing to bring building materials and workers to prepare the seized apartments without the permission of their owners is contrary to international laws relating to human rights, and these homes must be returned immediately to their owners and a message should be sent to all world about the violations and injustices inflicted on citizens.

Yesterday, armed groups of the “SDF militia” seized by force 60 apartments under construction in the Al-Hilaliya neighborhood, despite the owners having official papers proving their ownership of those apartments which are registered through the housing association of the municipality of Hemo village.
