First batch of contracted electrical transformers arrives at Tartous port

Today, the first batch of “66/20 KV” electrical transformers with a capacity of “30 MVA” contracted by the Ministry of Electricity, arrived at Tartous port, and their number is 20 transformers.

Engineer Waseem Muhammad, director of public utilities at the General Establishment for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, said in a statement to reporters: This batch is the first out of 37 transformers, which is the total quantity that was contracted by the Ministry of Electricity. This batch is scheduled to be supplied to ease the bottlenecks in the electrical network, pointing out that the ministry is making great efforts in light of the unjust economic siege imposed on Syria.

Muhammad pointed out that the transformers reaching the port have a plan set by the ministry to increase the capacity of some transformers from  a capacity of 20 to 30 KV, and to replace stations that were destroyed by terrorism and the others where bottlenecks occur as a result of heavy load. It will also help to expand the network in all the governorates that will have a share of these transformers, as the ministry will begin the process of installing them after 20 days.

Muhammad underlined the importance of supplying transformers in replacing some old ones, in addition to installing them in new stations, which helps to cancel forced blackout at the level of tension line “66 KV”, pointing out that the installation will be according to a program set by the ministry in a number of stations.
