A new book on the Syrian folk heritage and names of the villages

“Hikayat Rifna” (The Story of our Countryside) is a new book by researcher Muhammad Ahmad Ismail in which he depended on historical documents, blogs, and photographs of villages, farms, population centers and archaeological places on the Syrian coast to highlight their folk stories  and their names.

The 400-page book issued by “ Dar Al-Nour” in Tartous, reviewed the story of the farmer in the area from ancient times until today in addition to the names of villages and fields and their implications based on documents, pictures and  popular memory.

The researcher believed that the ancestors were able to reclaim these lands and confront the forces of nature so that their lands remain green and giving, to be a beacon for the grandchildren to learn from it the meanings of goodness, work and love of the land in order to survive. Therefore, it is the duty of researchers to introduce their ancestors’ works in order to perpetuate them and celebrate them throughout history.

It is worth mentioning to say that the author Ismail  has a number of studies and books in the fields of folk and rural heritage, traditional songs in addition to the intangible heritage of the Syrian coast.
