President al-Assad: We can develop, expand and repair what terrorism has destroyed

Homs (ST): President Bashar al-Assad visited a gas plant in the south of the central region .Participating workers and technicians shared in the launching of the first phase of operating the newly installed turbine compressors in the plant, with the aim of increasing production by about 500 thousand cubic meters of gas per day.This will be reflected in the coming period, an increase in production of electricity stations and an increase in the quantities of domestic gas produced.

During his visit to the plant, President al-Assad, accompanied by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, listened to an explanation from the director of the Syrian Gas Company and the director of the plant about the function of these compressors in increasing production and their impact on the reality of energy in Syria.

In his conversation with workers and technicians, President al-Assad praised their efforts in accomplishing this national work, and their role in preserving and protecting this vital facility during the years of war.

President al-Assad said: This laboratory was targeted and was at the heart of the battle, and this facility offered martyrs, adding: “ I was present in 2009, I opened the same facility and at that time the project was important and vital for Syria, and today we are back starting the same project. What is good is that we can develop, expand and repair what terrorism destroyed, and what is  sad  is that war and terrorism have brought us back to step one . This is the result of the terrorism that we have all lived through, and as a result of the confluence of ignorance with treachery, which leads to ruin in the country. Ignorance with treachery turns people from humans into cattle, and cattle need a shepherd from outside to direct them, or perhaps more likely like swarms of locusts. When they pounce, locust swarms  destroy the crops in hours, they destroy everything. They have no affiliation, patriotism or morals, all these human things do not exist. On the other hand, when  awareness is coupled with patriotism, we see this civilized scene. We see construction and reconstruction. When awareness is coupled with patriotism, we see people like you presenting images of patriotism in the most beautiful and wonderful forms and manifestations.

President al-Assad said: When we inaugurated this project in 2009, it was considered a very important and vital project for the country at that time, and the country was comfortable and all sectors were moving forward normally. But in the war, it became more important for us because of the siege.

President al-Assad added: “Today, because of the war in Ukraine, the war between Russia and Western countries through the Ukrainian proxy, such projects have become absolutely priceless. The unprecedented rise in gas prices, the rise in fuel prices, and the rise in the prices of everything give us a message more than before, and it is basically present to us as Syrians that we must always rely on ourselves as we relied on ourselves in the issue of wheat in the eighties, and then energy. Today, gas, oil and energy are necessary to be in the hands of local people and national skills.”

President al-Assad went on to say: Today, the world is facing a big problem in this matter, but despite all these problems we are expanding with new projects. Not only has what was destroyed been rebuilt , but a new part has been added to this plant, which makes us develop our production of gas, and this is what you have done and  it will gradually be reflected on the citizens, first with regard to electricity stations and second with regard to domestic gas.

President al-Assad continued:  “In the coming months, and perhaps within a year, our situation will be better in all these respects, and this will be reflected not only on the comfort of the citizen but will be reflected primarily on services and the economy.”

President al-Assad said: The work you are doing gives a very important picture. You have presented a bright picture of the possibility of success in the public sector. This means increasing confidence in the public sector institutions, and when confidence in public sector institutions increases, confidence in all state institutions increases. This does not mean that there are no mistakes, but there is a difference between saying that there is a mistake and we must fix it, and saying that we do not have the ability. When we believe that we do not have the capacity, it means no matter how much we reform and whatever we develop, there is no result. No, You prove that there is a possibility and ability.

President al-Assad concluded his speech by saying: I am proud of every one of you. You provided a model for the meaning of steadfastness, away from slogans and away from theorizing. Whoever wants to define what steadfastness means, let him come and see how you people worked. You tell every Syrian citizen that despair should not enter your heart.”

President al-Assad inaugurated a gas plant in the south of the central region in 2009, but during the years of the war on Syria, the plant was subjected to several terrorist and sabotage attacks.
