Job Opportunities Fair will be held soon in Damascus

With the aim of securing job opportunities in tourism institutions and establishments, the Ministries of Tourism and Social Affairs and Labor, in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development, will launch a two-day Job Opportunities Fair next Tuesday at the Damarose Hotel in Damascus.

The fair aims, according to the Director General of the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training, Eng. Muslim Al Naem, to link students and graduates of tourism and hotel education and training institutions with the market and employers by providing a direct meeting between the two parties. About 200 job opportunities are expected to be offered by a number of specialized companies in the field of tourism and hotels.

Al-Naem pointed out that the forum is an opportunity to introduce the academic level provided in the professional tourism education on the one hand, and the training and work available in the private sector, and how to apply for that. He noted that the ministry will launch a special website to display jobs and vacancies available at institutions to facilitate access to job seekers by submitting Curriculum vitae and filling out employment application forms.

According to Al-Naem, a team from the General Authority for Tourism and Hotel Training, the Career Guidance Center and the Syrian Trust for Development will provide all the necessary support for those wishing to work during their visit to the fair. At the end of the forum, an accurate database will be prepared on the numbers of job seekers, the available opportunities and the actual employment that the forum succeeded in accomplishing as well as  the specializations most needed in the labor market so that training courses can be provided for them, he added.

Director of the Labor Market at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Rama Ali indicated that the forum comes within the executive steps of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Ministry of Tourism last August. She added that a set of activities and services will be implemented during the forum related to empowering and training youth, building capacity and identifying the job needs of private sector companies. .

Ali pointed out that coordination will be made with employers to provide workplace training programs and employment skills within the Youth Empowerment Center in Damascus as a first stage, and then evaluate the experience to be expanded later to the rest of the governorates.
