For the fourth time, the Lebanese Parliament postpones session to elect a new president

Beirut, (ST) – On Monday, the Lebanese Parliament postponed, for the fourth time in a row, the session to elect a President of the Republic, after no candidate was able to obtain two-thirds of the votes of the deputies.

The Lebanese National News Agency stated that 114 out of 128 deputies participated in the voting session to elect a new president of the republic. After the votes were counted, none of the candidates got two-thirds of the votes, while 50 deputies submitted  a white paper.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has set a new date for the session to elect a president on October 27.
