A European tourist group visits archaeological sites in Bosra al-Sham

On October 22nd, a tourist group of different European nationalities visited the city of Bosra al-Sham in the countryside of Daraa, in order to view the archaeological sites and historical monuments.

Muhammad al-Miqdad, director of the Tourist Information Center in Bosra al-Sham said that the group toured various archaeological sites, including the theater, the castle, the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, the monastery of the monk Buhaira and Barakat al-Hajj.

Miqdad pointed out that the Information Center of the Daraa Tourism Directorate, in cooperation with the Bosra City Council and the Department of Antiquities, provides tourist groups with facilities and information about the ancient city and its ancient history.

Director of Tourism Yasser Al-Saadi stated that the directorate is working to encourage domestic and foreign tourism, and is communicating with those concerned with the tourism sector to intensify visits.

He added that Bosra al-Sham witnesses frequent visits, especially from European tourists, and this indicates the growth of tourism in the governorate of Dara’a.

The group’s members expressed their joy at visiting the old city, which still preserves its architectural texture.

The city of Bosra al-Sham includes 45 archaeological sites inside and outside the old city.
