President Al-Assad congratulates Mr. Abdul Latif Rashid on his election as Iraq’s president

BAGHDAD, Oct.18, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad congratulated on Tuesday Mr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid on his election as President of Iraq, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency quoted the Iraqi Presidency as saying in a statement: “President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received today Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.”

The statement added that Al-Dandah handed a written message from President Bashar Al-Assad to President Rashid, congratulating him on his election as President of Iraq, wishing him success in his duty to achieve the Iraqi people’s aspirations in development and prosperity.

The President’s message referred to the historic relations between the two brotherly countries and the need for strengthening them in all domains.
For his part, President Rashid thanked President Al-Assad for his congratulation, expressing Iraq’s willingness to boost bilateral relations and work for peace and prosperity.
