Miqdad meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk Republic

On October 17th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic Natalia Nikonorova and her accompanying delegation, which included the Ministers of Culture and Agriculture. 

Minister Miqdad stressed the importance of strengthening the emerging relations between the two friendly countries in various political, economic, cultural and social fields, and the Syrian Arab Republic’s continued support for the Donetsk Republic, as well as its support for the right of the peoples of the Donbass region to self-determination. 

Minister Miqdad said: “The West’s support for terrorism in Syria with weapons and billions of dollars is a continuation of its support today to the Nazis in Ukraine and to providing them with weapons and money to confront the Russian position that defends the Donbass people, their freedom and security.

For her part, Nikonorova expressed her thanks to Syria for its support for the Donetsk Republic, its respect for the people’s choice in Donetsk, and its support for it at the United Nations. 

Nikonorova presented a presentation of the course of the war on her country and what the people of Donetsk suffered from the practices and war of extermination by the Nazi groups. 

The two sides also discussed the possibilities available for multilateral cooperation at various levels in a way that achieves the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries. 

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. LouayFallouh, Director of the Europe Department, Dr. Ihsan Al-Rumman and Hussein Abdul Aziz from the Minister’s Office, and from the guest side by the Russian Ambassador Alexander Yefimov
