Al-Miqdad, Pedersen discuss issues of common interest and recent developments in Syria

DAMASCUS, Oct.17, (ST)- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with the the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, the latest affairs related to issues of common concern, and the recent developments in Syria.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Special Envoy briefed Al-Miqdad on the results of his recent visits to a number of countries, the meetings he held with officials in these countries, and the efforts made to resume the work of the constitution committee.

Al-Miqdad stressed that the continuity of the American and Turkish occupation of Syrian lands, and the continuity of the Israeli occupation of the Golan, and the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territories violate Syria’s sovereignty, the international law , the UN Charter, and threaten peace and security in the region.

He called on the United Nations to play its role in this regard in accordance with its charter.
