Lattakia governor holds talks with Russian delegation on enhancing cooperation  in several fields

LATTAKIA, Oct.17, (ST)- Within the framework of the work of the 5th Syrian-Russian joint meeting to follow-up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced people, the Governor of Lattakia, Amer Hilal, discussed on Monday with a delegation from  the Russian Nizhny Novgorod region headed by Deputy Governor Peter Panikov, possible areas of bilateral cooperation.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the discussion, which was held at the headquarters of Lattakia governorate, included  ways of enhancing cooperation in economy, tourism, culture, education and healthcare fields , establishing joint investment projects and promoting local products, markets and exhibitions.There will also be  a twinning agreement to be signed between the cities of Lattakia and Dzerzhinsk.

Hilal talked about the determination of the governorate to develop bilateral cooperation relations in various fields, expressing the appreciation and gratitude of the Syrian people for the attitudes of the Russian government and people, and its support for it, especially in the field of combating terrorism.

For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their determination in developing the aspects of cooperation, sign an agreement and a memorandum of cooperation, and benefit from the available privileges in both cities.

In a statement to reporters, Hilal declared that the talks focused on several aspects that support development and investment plans, which are mentioned in the cooperation agreement between the two sides, referring to the importance of the delegation’s visit to advance bilateral cooperation programs by benefiting from the strong and strategic relations that bring together the two friendly countries.

He asserted that the delegation will discuss with cadres from the Directorate of Agriculture, businessmen and sorting and packaging centers the aspects of cooperation in marketing agricultural products, including citrus and olives.

For his part, Panikov said that the talks dealt with the possibility of expanding cooperation to include programs in the medical field.
