Putin: There are intensive efforts to move to commercial transactions in national currencies

Astana (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the statements of the French President about accusing Russia of trying to “ignite conflict” between Azerbaijan and Armenia are incorrect and unacceptable, inviting the Armenian Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President to visit Moscow and hold talks on the border dispute between the two countries.

In a speech at the start of the summit of CIS heads of state today, Putin said that Russia always sincerely seeks to resolve any conflict, including issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, adding: “I was surprised to read some statements of the French President yesterday. The course of the conflict, apparently, does not have information on the positions of the parties, so the statements are incorrect.”

Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Paris’ attempts to sabotage relations between Moscow, Azerbaijan and Armenia are doomed to failure and will reduce France’s influence in the region.

On the other hand, Putin stressed that there are intensive efforts for the transition of the CIS countries to commercial transactions in national currencies, as they have much potential for this, noting that Russia attaches importance to cooperation between the parliaments of the CIS countries, which helps harmonize the laws and regulations taken between countries.
