The Damascus History Foundation presents for the first-time rare video recordings of the modern history of Syria
Last night , the Damascus History Foundation presented for the first -time rare video recordings on the modern history of Syria under the title “Syrian anecdotes 2” in the presence of writers, artists, politicians, intellectuals and media professionals in the East Hotel in Damascus.
The video recordings were collected in the form of a sixty -minute documentary film that included 60 scenes on the most prominent historical stations that Syria went through at the political, military, social, artistic and media levels during the sixty -year period that extended from 1915 until 1975.
Historian and researcher Sami Moubayed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the History of the History of Damascus, said: “The source of these recordings is the University of South California, which contacted the Foundation and asked us to provide an explanation about the events that it contains and clarify the content of the scenes in it.”
Moubayed added that the Foundation requested a copy of these very rare records to benefit from them for educational purposes and non -profit documentation, as it was worked on and collected within the 2019 show in the Damascus Museum.
Moubayed pointed out that the video includes real live scenes of political figures that appear clearly in the scenes, as well as many local and international events that took place during that period and the emergence of many regions, landmarks and markets of Damascus.
Moubayed indicated the importance of this matter in relation to drama makers, writers, directors and artists.
Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, the Special Adviser in the Presidency of the Republic, said that the video is very influential and gives a spirit of hope for the future.
She added that the video confirms that Syria is a great, wonderful and elegant country and a historically civilized country that does not oppress, whatever the challenges.
She expressed her appreciation for the Foundation’s efforts in introducing young generations to the history of their country and the most important historical events that Syria has gone through and their details, as well as the definition of the achievements that took place during that period.
Author Colette Khoury pointed out that the presentation expressed the full history that Syria went through at the political level.She expressed her hope that the upcoming documentation and historical registration will take place according to this new artistic approach, so that we have historical documentary works that we are proud of.
Dr. Mohamed Firas Hinnawi, Vice Rector of the Damascus University for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, said: “We saw today for the first time a real documentary film that expresses the history of Damascus and Syria that highlighted a group of events that took place in Syria during that era.”
From the Association of Friends of Damascus, Dr. Amal Mahasin said that the show was rich in all the events and details, which are embodied in front of us.
She indicated the importance of documentation in this way , away from imagination – rather a video, with words.
Syrian writer Nadia Al -Ghazi expressed her admiration for the show in which she appeared as the first woman who worked in presenting programs on Syrian TV and said: “It included a full history that made us feel sad and sometimes joyful.”
