Velvety green beans, also known as (fasolia bi zet) is a delicious rich green beans casserole with tomato, herbs and olive oil. Absolute flavor perfection melts in the mouth vegan dish.
A very unique dish that is unlike sauteed green beans. Make them vegan or add some cooked beef for a hearty meal.
It is an easy recipe, rich and very flavorful. Today we will prepare it on the Syrian way.
Ingredients
▢1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
▢1 medium yellow onion diced.
▢4-5 garlic cloves minced.
▢1 1/4 cup hot water.
▢1 1/2 pounds green beans cut and trimmed.
▢1 (14.5 ounces) can diced tomatoes.
▢2 Tablespoons tomato paste.
▢Salt and ground pepper to taste.
Instructions
Heat olive oil
Saute onions until softened and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
Add garlic until fragrant.
Add beans then water.
Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
Stir in diced tomato, tomato paste, salt and pepper and mix everything well.
Place the pot in the oven and cook for about 45 minutes.
Transfer to serving dish, garnish with basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
