Foreign Ministry: U.S. theft of Syrian oil is a piracy and an attempt to return to colonialism era

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has stressed that the United States must immediately withdraw its illegal forces from the Syrian territories and stop supporting terrorists, mercenaries and separatists militias that it uses as tools to implement its agenda and achieve its own interests.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry said that the US continuous despicable policy, represented in stealing the Syrian oil and smuggling it across the Syrian-Iraqi borders, constitutes a piracy and an attempt to return to colonialism era.

Syria reminds the world that the U.S. theft of Syrian oil violates the international law and the UN Charter and it calls on the Security Council to condemn and put an end to such aggressive practices, the ministry added, affirming that Syria reserves its right to get compensations from the United States for all what it has looted and for all the losses it has caused to the country because of stealing Syrian resources.

It is to be noted that during the past weeks, the US occupation forces, in collusion with the U-S-backed “SDF” separatist militia, intensified their acts of looting Syrian oil by bringing out hundreds of tankers, carrying oil stolen from the oilfields of the Syrian Al-Jazira region, to their illegal bases in the Iraqi territories.
