DAMASCUS, Oct.4, (ST)- Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed forces, President Bashar Al-Assad, and based on the combatant programs of Syrian armed forces for this year, an army formation has conducted tactical drills with live ammunition for several days.

The drills began with opening fire by artillery and launching rocket and mortars, and they were followed by intense surface-to-surface missile strikes and air strikes and opening gaps in minefields.

General Abdel Al-Karim Mahmod Ibrahim, Chief of the General Staff, evaluated the drills and provided the field commanders with his instructions.

He praised the efforts of commanders and all fighters who participated in the drills, stressing the importance of  training in improving the skills and experiences of our army.

The commander of the Russian troops, who are working in Syria, lieutenant General Alexander Chaiko and a number of the army senior officers attended the drills.
