New York (ST): Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed the latest developments related to negotiations to lifting the embargo placed on his country.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 77th summit meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Abdullahian said that reaching an agreement is possible if the American side showed realism. He added: A lot of progress has been made in the negotiations, and we believe that an agreement can be reached if the US side is realistic.
Abdullahian affirmed the sovereignty of democracy in the Islamic Republic of Iran and said: We consider peaceful protest a right of the people, and this protest is different from chaos and tampering with the country’s public order.
For his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres affirmed that we have always supported the return of all parties to the agreement, and I hope to see its achievement soon.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations praised the important role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in contributing to peace and security in the region.
