Lattakia hosts Arab Cycling Championship

With the participation of five Arab and three Syrian clubs, the Arab Championship for Cycling will  start on Wednesday in Lattakia, which is held by the Cycling Federation  in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Lattakia province. The event is due to continue  until next Saturday.

Head of the Cycling Federation and the organizer of the sport event  Khaled Kokash said in a statement to SANA  that the clubs participating in the championship are from  Palestine,  Egypt, and  Iraqi  in addition to three Syrian clubs” .

Kokash added”  The upcoming championship  is the tenth for males and the first for females, as its competitions include three stages: teams against the clock, individual against the clock and general singles, which will start and end on the Lattakia-Aleppo highway.

Head of the Cycling Federation pointed out that this championship always enjoys wide participation, and we have obtained the approval of the Arab Federation for a sport event with the participation of young participants in the higher categories in order to give them more experience, as it is an important opportunity to exchange skills between Arab participants.

In this connection, after concluding  the championship,  “Droub Tishreen” the International Cycling Race will start in Lattakia next Monday with local, Arab and international participation .

It is noteworthy that the top ten in the rankings of the Arab championships will receive international points that will help them qualify for the world championships and the Olympics.
