On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, Miqdad meets the Palestinian President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia

New York (ST): The meeting, which was held between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, dealt with the latest developments in occupied Palestine and the ongoing Israeli aggression against it.

President Abbas reviewed the efforts made by Palestine on the international arena and at the United Nations to defend the rights of the Palestinian people.

For his part, Minister Miqdad stressed Syria’s condemnation of the Israeli occupation practices against the Palestinians, including continuous attacks, settlement policies, Judaization, siege, arbitrary arrest, forced displacement and racial discrimination.

Miqdad indicated that Syria supports the State of Palestine’s approach to obtaining full membership in the United Nations.

Minister Miqdad also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Silakovic, where the two ministers reviewed developments in the international arena, as well as ways to develop bilateral relations at various political, economic and cultural levels, and discussed the results of the meetings held by Minister Miqdad with Serbian officials during his visit to Belgrade last October.

Minister Miqdad presented the latest developments related to the situation in Syria, praising Serbia’s supportive stance for Syria in its war against terrorism.
