MOSCOW, Sep.22, (ST)- The Minister of Awqaf Muhammad Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed affirmed that Syrian-Russian relations are deeply-rooted in all fields, including religious cooperation between the two countries.
His remarks came during a press conference held today in Moscow.
“We arrived in Russia at the invitation of the religious administration in it to participate in the international conference being held under the title (Religious Education in the Service of Society), where several meetings were held with clergymen, as well as with the deputies of the Russian State Duma and some of its members, where the official and popular stance was stressed towards the special military operation to protect the people of Donbass and the role that Russian President Vladimir Putin plays in limiting the attempts of the West and NATO led by the United States from extending towards the Russian borders,” the minister said.
In an interview with the correspondent of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in Moscow on the sidelines of the conference, Al-Sayyed said that Syria explained the nature of religious education and its experience in combating extremism and terrorism.
He added that the most important station in our point of view in Russia was the signing of a very important agreement, which the head of the religious administration in Russia described as a historic moment and a historic day by signing an agreement on religious cooperation between Syria and Russia, noting that the agreement provides for the training of Russian imams, preachers and muftis at (Al-Sham Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremism). affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf, in addition to circulating comprehensive interpretation and cooperation with the Syrian Fiqh Academy in the field of legal fatwas in Russia.
For his part, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Sheikh Roshan Abbasov said that this international conference, which is being held today in Moscow, is to confirm that we have common goals and tasks in countering extremist ideas, referring to the stances of Syria and Arab and Islamic countries that support Russia and the special military operation to protect the Donbass people.
Chairman of the Council of Iraqi Scholars, Sheikh Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Muhammad, said that the most important issue that was discussed by the conference is the role of religion and religious education in combating crime and preventing terrorism, stressing the importance of these conferences in strengthening the bonds of societies and exposing the danger of moral deviations and their impact on their cohesion.
