Russian security thwarts an attempt to blow up a gas pipeline to Turkey and Europe
On September 22nd, the Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted an attempt to blow up a pipeline that transported gas from Russia to Turkey and Europe.
“As a result of a field investigation, the security men were able to uncover and thwart a terrorist operation planned by the Ukrainian intelligence to target the Russian gas pipeline to Turkey and Europe,”
the agency’s public relations center said in a statement
According to the statement, the security forces were able to arrest a Russian citizen, born in 1978, who had been recruited by the Ukrainian intelligence earlier.
The security men found two explosive devices in his possession that he had prepared himself.
The Russian security forces also arrested 4 people who cooperated with the terrorist and provided him with effective assistance in preparing for the crime.
