Syrian Arab army eliminates 9 ISIL-linked terrorists in Der Ezzour, launches tailored operations in Damascus countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_Different areas in provinces of Daraa, Aleppo, Der Ezzour and Damascus countryside have seen major developments in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

The official news agency has summarized results of today’s operations by saying- in its headline -that the armed forces obliterated an arms depot in Damascus countryside, destroyed a rocket launcher in Daraa province and eliminated terrorists from the “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant” (ISIL) in Der Ezzour province.

The arms depot was pounded in Jobar suburb, an official source said, adding that munitions and protective masks were seized inside a car belonging to terrorists to the east of police hospital in Harasta suburb outside Damascus.

Other weapons including Israeli-made ones, rifles, booby-tarps, and RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades) were confiscated after warding off an armed terrorist group’s attack on a garrison in Shaqhab area near al-Kesweh town in Damascus countryside, according to a military source.

Moreover, the armed forces killed an unknown number of terrorists, mostly from al-Nusra Front, in tailored operations in areas of al-Rihan, Hajjira, Darayya and al-Zabadani’s eastern mountain and on the surroundings of Shebaa town and ‘Safir Ma’aloula’ Hotel.

Terrorists kill each other in Qudsaya  

Last night, many terrorists died in a quarrel  between two terrorist groups belonging to the so-called ‘Islam’ brigade in Qudsaya area, to the north-west of Damascus.

In Daraa 

More terrorists, some from Libya and Jordan, were among the dead in a wide-scale operation launched against their hideouts and groupings in more than 18 towns in southern Daraa province.

A military source said that an army unit destroyed a rocket launcher, which had been used by terrorists in their attacks, in Daraa city, announcing names of 10 terrorists killed in the said towns.

In Der Ezzour

While in Der Ezzour province, north-east of the country, the armed forces raided a hideout of terrorists from (ISIL) in Jded Akidat town where a ringleader and 8 gangsters perished.

They also thwarted an armed terrorist group’s attack on locals of al-Mowazzafin quarter in the same province.

In another quarter called al-Erfi in Der Ezzour province, it was reported that several terrorists died in a detonation of an explosive device as they were planting it there.

In Aleppo

Concerning developments in the northern Aleppo province, a military source declared that the armed forces eliminated 9 terrorists sheltering in “XO” restaurant on the outskirts of al-Ashrafeyeh quarter in the city and clashed with terrorists trying to attack locals in safe areas of Salaheddin quarter.

It cited that several terrorist groupings and weapons were wiped out in around 18 areas outside Aleppo.

Al-Tadamon explosion 

In a separate incident, a car-bomb explosion ripped through al-Tadamon area, to the south of Damascus, killing three citizens and leaving 11 others wounded.

An official source said: “The terrorist attack caused damages to more than 15 homes and 10 cars at the scene.”

In the evening, the terrorist fired shells on residential areas in al-Abasseyen and al-Zablatani in Damascus where 10 citizens were reportedly wounded.
