Israeli occupation tries to Judaize education, says Shtayyeh

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh affirmed that the Israeli occupation, in flagrant violation of international treaties and covenants, has organized an attack on education in Palestine, especially in the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), in an attempt to Judaize it.

According to Wafa News Agency, Shtayyeh indicated during a video conference speech at the Education Transformation Summit currently being held in New York that education in Palestine is exceptional, as the challenges are multiplied due to the occupation that targets the school, the student and the teacher. He added that Palestinian students face daily difficulties in accessing their schools due to the occupation forces and settlers.

“The armed attacks on students and teachers, the School demolitions, checkpoints, arrests and intimidation, in addition to the arbitrary occupation measures that impede the construction of new schools are also considered big challenges facing the education in Palestine”, Shtayyeh said.

Shtayyeh affirmed adherence to the Palestinian curriculum because it represents a pillar for preserving national identity and a catalyst for the struggle for freedom and independence and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Yesterday, a comprehensive strike took place in occupied Jerusalem schools, rejecting the attempts of the Israeli occupation authorities to Judaize education and to obliterate and distort the facts of history.
