Putin: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization strengthens its role in resolving conflicts politically
Samarkand (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is strengthening its role in solving regional and international problems and seeking to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means, and among its priorities is the fight against terrorism and extremism, expressing his country’s support for Iran’s accession to the organization as soon as possible.
In his speech today during the expanded meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Summit, Putin said, “Iran’s participation in the Organization will positively affect the whole region as well as the decisions taken regarding the accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
After signing the pledges of Iran’s permanent membership in the Organization yesterday, Zhang Ming, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, confirmed that Iran’s membership will contribute to strengthening the work of the Organization and raising the level of its work and that Iran’s position in the region as a strong country enjoying security and stability is of importance to the Shanghai Organization.
