Damascus,(ST)-Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faysal Mikdad received the credentials of the World Food Program (WFP) representative in Damascus, Matthew Hollingsworth.
Mikdad underlined the importance of finding means to achieve productive and constructive cooperation between the Syrian government and the WFP, outlining the role played by the Syrian Higher Commission for Relief in this regard.
He affirmed the Syrian government’s readiness to provide all necessary facilities to help the WFP carry out its work.
Mikdad also expressed the Syrian government’s appreciation for the WFP’s aid offered to the Syrian people under the current testing circumstances, affirming that the UN and its organizations are important partners to Syria.
For his part, Hollingsworth voiced the WFP’s readiness to fully cooperate with the Syrian government to deliver aid to those who need it, hoping that Syria will overcome the crisis as soon as possible.
