National Center for Excellence, a scientific beacon for developing creativity and scientific research skills

With the aim of preparing national cadres to contribute to the process of development, the National Center for Excellence works to secure care for students with a basic education certificate who have fulfilled the qualification conditions, by teaching and supervising them psychologically, socially and educationally, and following up on their intellectual path of excellence.  The National Center for Excellence aims to develop skills capable of creativity and research . It also creates professional cadres within an environment that fosters excellence and creativity.

The director of the center, Rajaa Al-Ali, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the duration of the study in the center is three years, then  the successful student obtains the secondary school certificate for the distinguished. The center’s graduates continue their university and higher studies. Then the graduates with very good grades are sent to obtain a doctorate degree for the benefit of a public entity.

The head of the center indicated that the students carry out many activities throughout the year, such as preparing research and scientific projects. She highlighted the effective presence of the Center in most national and international scientific competitions, such as the Olympiad, robotics competitions, programming and mathematical modeling, where its students achieved many awards worldwide.

Al-Ali pointed out that highly-qualified trained teachers supervise the educational process in the center.

It is noteworthy that the center was established under Legislative Decree No. 45 of 2008 and was opened in Homs Governorate on July 27, 2009. But the terrorism that Syria was exposed to affected its main headquarters, so it was moved to temporary centers between several governorates before returning to opening its doors in its main headquarters with the beginning of the current academic year.
