Syrian-Iranian talks on cooperation in the educational and cultural fields

On the sidelines of her visit to Iran, Minister of Culture Dr. Lubana Mushaweh discussed with Iranian Minister of Education Youssef Nouri ways to enhance bilateral relations in the educational and cultural fields.

During the meeting today, Minister Mushaweh spoke about the efforts made by the Ministry of Culture through the Directorate of Child Culture and the Directorate of Adult Education and Community Development to support the Syrian Ministry of Education in light of the war waged against Syria in order to attract children and adults towards education through programs carried out in cooperation with UNESCO for integrated education and life skills in preparation for their integration into the educational system.

Mushaweh indicated the ministry’s interest in supporting children and adolescents through the Child Culture Directorate by supervising all activities related to childhood in cooperation with all directorates and bodies affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and launching a series of literary and artistic competitions for children, adolescents and children with special needs, pointing out that the terrorist war destroyed a large number of Syrian cultural centers. .

She also drew attention to the ministry’s sponsorship of artistic and musical talents for children from 6 to 17 years of age and their rehabilitation with academic curricula and publications for children and young adults that the ministry provides through the Syrian General Book Authority and provides school libraries, and holds exhibitions and various activities within the “My Book is My Companion” axis.

For his part, Nouri and his team gave a presentation on the ministry’s work, programs and projects that it provides in all parts of Iran through its directorates and bodies specialized in supporting talents, the film industry dedicated to children, animation and teaching the Arabic language, pointing to the possibility of exchanging experiences between the two countries and benefiting from the experience of the search engine launched by Iran for children to have a healthy space and document the basic development of theoretical materials that have been translated into Arabic and to benefit from the successful Syrian experience in the field of teaching Arabic.

The two sides agreed to exchange experiences in various fields related to the development of the children’s culture, building their personalities, strengthening their national affiliation, and exchanging publications and films translated into Arabic to participate in the Iranian Culture Week in Syria, which will be held in Damascus after about two weeks.

In turn, the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayyoub, pointed to the importance of activating the agreement signed in 2020 between the ministries of education in the two countries, stressing the importance of exchanging visits between officials from both sides and the need to enhance coordination between the two ministries in relevant regional and international organizations and forums.
