Cambodian PM: ASEAN members must work together to face challenges

Phnom Penh (ST): Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, whose country will chair the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year, stressed that ASEAN members must work together to face challenges and ensure regional peace, stability and prosperity.
The prime minister was quoted by Xinhua as saying at the opening ceremony of the 2022 ASEAN Leadership and Partnership Forum: “In the context of intense geopolitical competition, ASEAN must work together as a role model to ensure regional peace, stability and prosperity through strengthening ASEAN unity and centrality and strict adherence to partnerships and mechanisms”.
Techo Hun Sen added: “There is a  need for ASEAN to play a central role and serve as a platform for dialogue and cooperation and to promote an open, transparent, inclusive and rules-based regional architecture.”
