Al-Jaafari to the Deputy Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs: Syria is keen to work with the UN and its agencies on the basis of partnership

Damascus (ST): Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, discussed with Tariq Talahmeh, Deputy Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa (OCHA), and the accompanying delegation, the need for all countries and international organizations to abide by the resolutions issued by the Security Council.
Dr. Al-Jaafari stressed the need to implement Security Council Resolution 2642, which explicitly stipulates the transition to early recovery and steadfastness and the delivery of aid across the lines, stressing that the problem in the non-implementation of Security Council resolutions on Syria by some countries has become due to moral reasons in addition to being political, especially that all Security Council resolutions related to Syria affirm Syria’s sovereignty over its entire territory, its political independence, and its territorial integrity.
Dr. Al-Jaafari explained the dangerous humanitarian effects of foreign interference in Syrian affairs on the Syrian people and in prolonging the crisis, especially the destructive role that Turkey played and is playing in fueling the Syrian crisis and its violation of the laws of international legitimacy by passing terrorists and manipulating the issue of water, the role of the American occupation in supporting terrorist organizations and the effect of stealing national resources by this occupation on the Syrian people.
Dr. Al-Jaafari reiterated Syria’s keenness to work with the United Nations and its agencies on the basis of partnership, noting the positive role of the United Nations in defending international law despite some countries’ attempt to circumvent this UN organization and impose the law of the jungle.
