Syrian-Iranian talks to develop cultural relations

Tehran (ST): The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh, discussed in Tehran today with the head of the Association of Culture and Islamic Relations in Iran, Muhammad Mahdipour, ways to develop cultural relations between the two countries.

Dr. Mshaweh underlined the importance of developing cultural relations and expanding their horizons to rise to the level of political relations, expressing the desire of the Ministry of Culture to cooperate with the Iranian side in the field of cinema, referring to the possibility of benefiting from Iranian cinematic expertise in production, script and all components of the film industry and oriental music, due to the great experience that Iranian cinema possesses.

For his part, Mahdipour affirmed the Iranian side’s readiness to develop cultural relations between the two countries at all levels, establish a Syrian cultural week in Iran, and work on establishing Persian language courses in Syria.

The two sides agreed on the necessity of reconsidering and developing the terms of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in the cultural field. They also exchanged views on the program of the Iranian cultural week that will be held in Damascus later this month.
