DPRK issues law on state policy on nuclear powers

Pyongyang (ST): The Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK passed the “State Policy on Nuclear Forces” law, which affirmed that these forces constitute an effective tool in defending the sovereignty, territorial integrity and fundamental interests of the state, preventing the outbreak of war on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, and contributing to ensuring the strategic stability of the world.

According to the law reported by the Korean Central News Agency last night, the DPRK, as a responsible country that possesses nuclear weapons, opposes all forms of war, including nuclear wars, and aspires to build a peaceful world in which international justice is achieved, a rational, defensive and responsible nuclear policy and a flexible nuclear use strategy capable of dealing with any existing and growing nuclear threats in the future was put forward.

The law indicated that the declaration of the DPRK’s policy and legal text on nuclear powers is aimed at minimizing the danger of nuclear war by preventing miscalculation and misuse of nuclear weapons among the nuclear-weapon states.
