Syria, Iraq review recent development, cooperation in security issues

BAGHDAD, Sep.8, (ST)- The Iraqi National Security’s Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, has discussed with Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, the recent developments and the means of strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples.

According to a statement issued by the Iraqi National Security on Thursday, Al-Araji affirmed his country’s keenness on Syria’s return to its role in the joint Arab action.
The statement indicated that the two sides stressed the importance of having joint action between the two countries regarding border control and cooperation in common security issues, while Ambassador Al-Dandah stressed the importance of upgrading brotherly and bilateral relations in order to meet the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Following the meeting, Al-Dandah told the reporter of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in Baghdad that the meeting dealt with a number of files regarding joint work and coordination with the Syrian government on joint security issues, in addition to procedures related to Syrians in Iraq and settling their status.
