Russian Ambassador to Algeria Valerian Chauvaev announced that Russia does not oppose Algeria’s accession to the BRICS organization.
Russia Today website quoted Shuvaev as telling reporters today: Russia has no objection to Algeria’s desire to join the BRICS, as the Russian and Algerian presidents discussed this issue.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced last August that his country was ready to join the BRICS organization and he discussed this issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that almost all conditions were apt.
The BRICS organization includes five countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and the first summit between the heads of the four founding countries was held in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg in June 2009 without South Africa, which joined in 2010.
