European Commission: 13 countries are partially or completely affected by the Russian gas cut

The European Deputy Commissioner for Energy, Michschild Wörsdörfer, announced today that 13 countries have been partially or completely affected by the cutoff of Russian gas supplies, especially after the suspension of supplies via the Nord Stream 1.

Sputnik news agency quoted Wörsdörfer as saying during a discussion session of the Industry and Energy Committee of the European Parliament, “Some European countries, including 13 countries, were affected by cutting off of Russian gas completely or partially, especially with Russia’s decision on Wednesday to stop the supply of gas through the NordStream 1 to Germany and the rest European countries for a period of 3 days due to maintenance work.”

Wörsdörfer explained that the Commission is closely following the impact of Russia’s decision to stop the flow of gas and is working on a contingency plan for the rise in electricity prices.

Gas prices in Europe recorded a sharp rise after the Russian company Gazprom announced on Wednesdaythat it will stop pumping gas through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline for periodic maintenance work.
