Chekunkov: Delegations from unfriendly countries to take part in the 7th EEF in Vladivostok

Delegations from unfriendly countries, including Japan and South Korea, will come to the 7th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), the Minister of the Development of the Far East  Aleksey Chekunkov announced on Thursday.

“I am convinced and know for sure that we have friends in unfriendly countries, and there are many of them. At the working level, the Japanese, Koreans, and many other people are expressing support – not just pragmatism and a constructive approach, but support, because they themselves have been living for decades in conditions of limited sovereignty, in conditions where a number of decisions are not formed by them, not in their countries and not in the interests of their peoples, ” the minister told RIA News.

Chekunkov noted the presence of historical and strong economic ties between Japan, South Korea and Russia.

The VII Eastern Economic Forum will take place on September 5-8 in Vladivostok.

The forum has evolved into the key platform for engagement aimed at creating new points of growth and opportunities for the investment in the Russian Far East as well as for providing a multi-faceted impulse to the collaboration with the economies of the Asia-Pacific region, according to the letter.

The participants and guests of the forum will see the return of the ‘Far East Street’ – a striking exhibition of the achievements.

The forum will also have a diverse sports programme attracting both professional and amateur sportsmen and women, while the cultural programme will see the launch of a festival, themed ‘Seasons of Vladivostok’ – open to both participants of the event and the residents of the city.
