Syrian National Dialogue committee : Rejecting Military intervention, convening Geneva 2 conference

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The  National Dialogue  follow-up committee , emanating from Tehran conference ” held a press conference in Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus yesterday on  the results of the committee  ‘s delegation’s visit to China on September 9 through 17.

Parliament  member Faisal Azzouz  said that all meetings of  the committee’s representatives with Chinese officials were ” successful and fruitful ” in terms of convening  view points of large segments of the Syrian people on several  political , social and economic  issues of interest to them under the crisis  and  the  global war experienced by Syria.

Azzouz  added that  members of the delegation discussed with Chinese officials the Russian initiative on putting  the  chemical weapons in Syria under international supervision and that it was confirmed to reject  the  military intervention in Syria and the need to expedite the convening of Geneva 2  conference and that a political solution and national dialogue between the Syrians themselves are the only way to resolve the crisis, as well as the need of  activating the follow-up committee of national dialogue emanating from Tehran conference and to include new national opposition forces .

In turn, the Secretary General of  the National Youth party  for Justice and Development  Brewin Ibrahim explained that  talks with Chinese officials dealt  with the US threats to launch an  aggression against Syria in order to support terrorists and stop the advance of the Syrian army in its operations to crush the armed terrorist groups ” .

She considered  the ” National Council of the Kurdish  Doha coalition ”  is a betrayal of the blood of the Syrians” who are exposed to  fierce attacks by terrorists, saying that American and Western  threats to launch aggression against Syria united  all the Syrians on  the need to defend the homeland and protect its  sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

She also considered that  anyone who accepts the idea of outside military intervention in Syria is as , ” a traitor to his country and people  and must be tried and executed ,” noting that the Syrian government approval  to the Russian initiative on putting  chemical weapons in Syria under international control came at the right time “to protect the civilians and save the Syrian state ” .

Member of the legal committee in the follow-up committee of national dialogue emanating from Tehran conference Tariq Ahmad  said that the visit was designed to clarify the truth of what is happening in Syria during the current  two and a half year crisis, and  its consequences on the region and the world at large.

Secretary General of the  Syrian National  Youth Party Maher Merhej  said that the visit was useful to brief  the Chinese officials on the national opposition attitudes concerning  the crisis in Syria, in rejecting  violence and all forms of foreign intervention and that the solution to the crisis in Syria must be political and through comprehensive national dialogue between various political forces .

Merhej pointed out that the representatives of the national opposition in the  Committee confirmed that most of the fighters in Syria do not represent the national opposition , rather  belong to  terrorist  organizations and  that the future of Syria is determined by the Syrians themselves under elections and ballot boxes.

The Committee met in China with  Chinese Vice deputy  Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs and several  managers in the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Communist Party and President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese people.
