Baghdad (ST) – An Iraqi security source reported that mortar shells fell inside the Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad.
The source told Alsumaria News: “The shells fell on the perimeter of a number of buildings inside the Zone”, noting that fires erupted and smoke columns rose in the place.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced a comprehensive curfew across the country, starting from seven pm yesterday, local time, when hundreds of protestors stormed into the Green Zone in the center of Baghdad, after the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced his retirement from political work and the closure of all his institutions.
