Die Together-Live Together

These were the moving words of South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.Deputy Minister Candith Dlamini paid a long delayed  two day visit to Syria with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations on all fronts. She held fruitful meetings with the Minister Khalil minister of economy and  trade ,but most importantly was her meeting with President Assad.During the meeting President Assad  stressed to the Deputy Minister that terrorism can not be fought with armies only as fanaticism knows no borders and is easily transmitted between people through social media and from here comes the importance of bilateral relations between countries in the fields of economy and culture.

The president also spoke about the importance of South Africa as part of the countries that form BRICS.

Syriatimes was able to interview Deputy Minister Dlamini

“So Deputy Minister Dlamini can you tell us the reason for your visit to the Levant and to Syria specifically?”

“We went on a tour of four countries. As you are aware South Africa has strong relations with the Levant specially Syria and we are here to revive these relations.

Unfortunately we were delayed by Covid for two years. So now we are back to put more effort into this relationship and to put more issues on the table that weren’t there before.

Our aim is also to strengthen economic relations -so we met with Minister Khalil, minister of economy and trade and we discussed economic issues. As you are aware both of our economies have been very low due to Covid and due to other problems that are there. Now we are looking at not only reviving these relations but increasing them too like having changeable economies that we can exchange with the Syrian side.”

To be continued….
