Beekeepers in Aleppo countryside are committed to their profession and are expected to produce 100 tons of honey
Aleppo (ST): Beekeeping projects provide a good source of income for many of the people of Aleppo countryside who inherited this profession from their parents and maintained it despite the difficulties of securing production requirements as a result of the unjust siege on Syria, in addition to the weather factors that have led in recent years to the damage of many beehives.
The number of beekeepers in Aleppo governorate is currently 1460, and the number of cells is approximately 14,600, including 5,000 municipal beehives and 9,500 technicians, according to a statement by the Director of Aleppo Agriculture, Engineer Radwan Harsoni, indicating that the expected production of honey for the current season is 100 tons.
Harsoni pointed out that the Directorate of Agriculture and the extension units are constantly working on raising awareness of breeders and providing advice on the measures to be taken to raise bees and obtain good production in addition to combating the red wasp insect.
