The Syrian community in Chuvashiya celebrate the foundation anniversary of Cheboksary city

Members of the Syrian community in the Russian Republic of Chuvashiya on Tuesday took part in a celebration marking the foundation anniversary of the city of Cheboksary, Chuvashiya’s Capital, through holding different cultural and artistic activities and an exhibition for Syrian handicrafts and heritage items that identify Syria’s history and civilization.

Several countries also took part in the event, which included an exhibition showcasing the distinguished products of the participating countries, as well as several artistic shows that aimed at introducing the culture of each community.

Representative of the Syrian Community Majd Habqa said that the Syrian stand exhibited heritage items, handicrafts, folk costumes, most popular Syrian foods and sweets as well as booklets that introduce Syria’s civilization and its most important historical sites and monuments.

He pointed out that the stand witnessed notable turnout by visitors, including President of Chuvashiya Oleg Nikolayev.

According to Habqa, participating in this event contributes to introducing Syria’s ancient culture to other peoples and getting the children of the Syrian expatriates acquainted with the civilization of their country.
