Syria condemns the policy of provocation practiced by France against the Republic of Mali

Damascus, (ST) – The Syrian Arab Republic has expressed its condemnation of the unprecedented escalation and policy of provocation practiced by France against the Republic of Mali.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that “Syria condemns the unprecedented escalation and provocation policy practiced by France against the Republic of Mali, depicted by the repeated violations of the Malian airspace by the French forces.”

The statement stressed that Syria believes that these violations threaten the peace and security of the African continent, as well as international peace and security. “These these criminal acts are an attempt by the old and new colonial powers to re-impose France’s hegemony and control”, the statement added.

“Syria calls on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities to compel France to stop its grave violations and respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Mali,” the statement said.

The statement said that, “Syria affirms its full support for the Republic of Mali, the government and people, in confronting attempts of external interference in its internal affairs.  “Syria stands united with Mali in the face of these aggressive French policies,” the statement concluded.
