The Syrian-Russian Peace Initiative in Homs on Saturday launched its first activity in this province by distributing school bags and stationeries to students in the Ghassan Ibrahim school in Al-Woroud neighborhood as the academic year is about to start.
The event, which was attended by official and popular figures, included artistic and sport activities presented by students from the targeted school and other schools in Homs, as well as an exhibition of paintings expressing the Syrian students’ gratitude to Russia for supporting Syria in all domains.
100 families of martyrs and wounded army personnel were also honored during this event.
Deputy Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria Oleg Yegorov said in a statement that it is important to exert tireless efforts so that the smile returns to the faces of the children as they begin their education process for this year.
He also stressed the need that public facilities in Homs should restore their normal activity, reaffirming his country’s continuous support for Syria so that peace prevails across the country.
On his part, Elias Khoury, Deputy Head of the Executive Office of Homs Governorate, thanked Russia for its firm support for Syria in all fields and for the Syrian-Russian Peace Initiative.
Director of the Syrian-Russian Peace Initiative office in Homs, Osama Al-Kasim, explained that this event comes as a continuation of the opening of the initiative’s office in Homs a month ago. He stressed keenness to continue providing support and aid for the rest of the schools in Homs governorate.
The Syrian-Russian Peace Initiative office in Homs was opened on July 20 with the aim of supporting the families of martyrs, the wounded and the needy citizens.
