DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Prime Minister, Wa’il al Halaqi, assured importance of the participation of
the Vocational Unions in mapping out the national policies and the contribution in the process of development, referring to the issuance of a number of legislations that aiming at developing health sector to play its effective role.
During his participation in the 29th Syria Physicians’ Conference, held recently in Sheraton, Dr. al Halaqi outlined that the cooperation between the Government, Vocational Unions and Peoples’ Organizations and their participation in mapping out plans and decision making is one of the government’s priorities to achieve comprehensive and balanced development.
Dr. Al Halaqi reviewed the economic and services situation, stressing that the government has exerted great efforts to ensure the basic services to citizens and rehabilitating the sectors of oil, electricity, health, communications and transport.
“The Syrian Economy has the elements of rising and steadiness in the face of the unjust sanctions imposed by a number of Arab and western countries”, he added.
The government, he stressed, is working hard to reactivating a number of agreements with some friendly countries to construct hospitals and health care centers in the Syrian governorates, referring that medicine is available and there is no any crisis but the problem lies in the process of transportation between governorates.
Dr. al Halaqi noted the role being played by the civil society and non government organizations particularly the Syrian Red Crescent and its efforts exerted in offering human, social and medical services to injured people.
He also reviewed the government’s vision to a number of issues raised by members of the physicians’ union particularly developing the health sector.
