China has developed a drone equipped with a new system that can be used in weather modification work and can implement remote sensing monitoring of clouds, rain, wind and aerosols in the air under its flight route.
Xinhua quoted an institute of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, one of the plane’s developers, as saying that the plane, which features large carrying capacity, long flight time, low maintenance cost and fast deployment, completed its maiden flight, which took 75 minutes from an airport in Shaanxi Province, northwest China, which proves the safety and capabilities of the vehicle and its airborne facilities.
The success of the aircraft’s maiden flight represents a breakthrough in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles made in China that are used in multi-functional monitoring via remote sensing to modify the weather.
