Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Dozens of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip participated in a stand on Sunday in support of the two Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, Khalil Awawda and Youssef Al-Baz.
Palestinian Ma’an News Agency stated that the participants in the stand organized by the Palestinian national forces in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross raised pictures of the two prisoners, Awawda, 40, who continues his second hunger strike for the 44th day, and Al-Baz, 64, who continues his hunger and water strike for the fourth day. They called on the Red Cross to immediately intervene to save them.
Abdullah Qandil, Director of the Wa’ed Association for the Care of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners, said that the stand comes in support of all prisoners in the occupation’s prisons, led by the two strikers, Awawda and Al-Baz, who may be martyred at any moment as a result of the occupation’s arbitrary practices against them. He referred to the need for international institutions to break their silence in the face of the occupation’s crimes against the prisoners and pressure him to release them.
It is noteworthy that Awawda announced his first hunger strike on the third of last March and suspended it after 111 days on the twenty-first of June. The failure of the occupation authorities to pledge to release him prompted him to resume his strike on the second of last July.
