Kakhovka Station Director warns of repercussions of Kiev forces’ attacks

Moscow, (ST) – Deputy Director of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant Arseny Zelensky confirmed that the bombing of the plant by Kiev forces could lead to a nuclear disaster at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

“We are operating in a very dangerous situation. Hostilities near the plant are unacceptable because this is a strategic facility and this could lead to a nuclear catastrophe,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted Zelensky as saying.

He explained that “due to the continuous strikes, the facility is operating in emergency mode and that out of six turbine generators, only three are operating.”

Deputy Director of the Kakhovka added that, “the plant did not suffer serious damage” as a result of the bombing. He said that “it should be taken into consideration that the Kakhovka plant is part of the unified energy system of Ukraine.”

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, had warned that Kiev was leading the world to a Chernobyl-style nuclear disaster.
